Sepsis is responsible for more than nine thousand deaths annually in Canadian hospitals. According to a recent report, one in three patients will die after acquiring sepsis in hospitals. In the last two years thirty thousand patients were hospitalized for sepsis.

Dr. Tomaino has studied the therapeutic effects of music for over 30 years. She is leading a program to give Alzheimer's patients iPods loaded with customized playlists, so they can receive music therapy in their own homes.
