"Cities with the most billionaires"

By Rob Winters - Published on Monday, 30 May 2011 19:02

"When the U.S. economy was riding high for most of the 20th century, it would have been impossible to imagine a foreign city--especially one in a Communist country--with more of the planet's very richest than New York, home of old-money Wall Street. But that indeed is the case. Today Moscow is the city with the most billionaire residents in the world.

The Russian capital boasts 79 billionaires, a stunning increase of 21 in just one year. That more than edges out No. 2 New York, with 59 billionaires, and No. 3 London with 41. Other cities in the top 15 include such rising stars as Mumbai, Taipei, Sao Paolo and Istanbul. Los Angeles manages a tie for No. 8."

"Nursing home selection policy shocking"

By Rob Winters - Published on Sunday, 29 May 2011 09:34

"Do you remember the joke that warns parents to be nice to their children, because one day they will choose your nursing home?

Actually, that whole concept of choosing a home for your parents is what's the joke, at least now, here in Alberta.

My mother is currently in an active treatment hospital bed in Edmonton.

Soon she will be assessed, and when she is well enough, she will be moved to a nursing home (continuing care or extended care).

What I found out the other day in a meeting with the patient care co-ordinator at the hospital shocked me."

"PayPal have sued Google over their new mobile trading scheme, saying they misappropriated trade secrets from PayPals mobile payment business.  According to the lawsuit, two former PayPal employees who now work for Google, Osama Bedier and Stephanie Tilenius, stole PayPal’s confidential information.

In the complaint, Bedier is said to be “leading Google’s efforts to bring point-of- sale technologies and services to retailers on its behalf,” with the complaint going on to say that “Bedier and Google have misappropriated PayPal trade secrets by disclosing them within Google and to major retailers.”
