"CALGARY — The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge bid adieu to Canada on Friday, during a windy official departure ceremony that included a wreath-laying in honour of fallen soldiers and a 21-gun salute.

A few lucky veterans got some face time with the couple, who spent several minutes shaking their hands and stopping to chat. William even paused to look through one attendee’s photos."

"Caylee's Law petition drive"

By Rob Winters - Published on Friday, 08 July 2011 06:54

"Caylee's Law petition calls for establishing two new federal offenses: failure of a parent to notify authorities of a missing child within 24 hours and failure to report a child's death within one hour. The online drive comes amid public anger over the Casey Anthony verdict.

"Murdoch kills tainted tabloid News of the World"

By Rob Winters - Published on Thursday, 07 July 2011 19:44

"LONDON - The Murdoch media empire has unexpectedly jettisoned the News of the World after a public backlash over the illegal guerrilla tactics it used to expose the rich, the famous and the royal and remain Britain's bestselling Sunday newspaper.

The abrupt decision Thursday stunned the paper's staff of 200, shocked the world's most competitive news town and ignited speculation that Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. plans to rebrand the tabloid under a new name in a bid to prevent a phone-hacking scandal from wrecking its bid for a far more lucrative television deal."
