"PJ's Pets stores will stop selling puppies in September. Let's hope that this is a first step in the eradication of mass-breeding puppy mills that often don't care for the animals the way they should.

Starting this September, PJ's Pets will no longer be selling puppies out of its retail stores. If you're looking to buy a new pet puppy, the stores will encourage you to adopt instead."

Concerns were first raised in 2006 about elevated cancer rates in Fort Chipewyan, about 220 kilometres north of Fort McMurray. A provincial government study released in 2009 confirmed the trend and recommended more analysis into possible causes."
