"Trump blames hospitals for mask and ventilator shortages"

"President Trump has been focused on shifting blame for whatever becomes of the coronavirus outbreak. And on Sunday, he set about blaming hospitals and states for the well-established shortages of equipment to deal with the situation.
During the daily White House coronavirus briefing in the Rose Garden, Trump suggested that hospitals had squandered or done worse with masks and were “hoarding” ventilators, and that states were requesting equipment despite not needing it."

"On the day after three residents of the Pinecrest Nursing Home in Bobcaygeon, Ont., tested positive for COVID-19, the facility’s medical director e-mailed family members to brace them for the worst.
“It’s possible that you may face the decision to send your loved one to the hospital, especially if they develop pneumonia and have trouble breathing,” Michelle Snarr wrote on March 21. “This would raise the question of going on a ventilator. A frail nursing-home patient who is put on a ventilator is quite likely to suffer a great deal......"

"The Ontario government issued an emergency order Saturday to help long-term care homes in the province deal with the COVID-19 outbreak.
The government said the temporary order will ensure that staffing and resources are available to take care of residents as the pandemic continues.
To do so, the government said they are re-deploying their inspectors to help out in the facilities."

"There is now a provincial total of 993 cases and 18 deaths.
Ontario reported 135 new COVID-19 cases and three new deaths Friday, including two at a nursing home that local officials say is the site of the province’s largest outbreak, according to The Canadian Press.
The provincial total of COVID-19 cases is now 993, including 18 deaths and eight people whose cases have fully resolved."
